While the World Cup 2010 has come and gone, some of us were lucky enough to attend this spectacular event while millions viewed from across the globe. After the Confederations Cup, FIFA, critiques and conversation around the dinner table was anxious and nervous, could South Africa pull it off! The tournament was looming and most of the infrastructure needed to be build, the expectation was on us! Finally it was Game On and the international fans were here in there thousands, South Africa was united across all cultural divides supporting Bafana Bafana and people from all over the world could marvel at our world class stadiums and enjoy the fruits of our beautiful land.

I was fortunate enough to enjoy the celebrations at both the Peter Mokaba stadium in Polokwane and the Royal Bafokeng stadium in Rustenburg. The Mexican supporters are something to be seen, chanting, singing and even the wanna be Lucha Libre displayed there wrestling with national pride.

South Africa can hold its head up high as the host country, with the launch of the 1Goal campaign, a estimated 500 000 visitors and 13 billion rand generated, contributing to half a percent of the GDP, the World Cup 2010 has been overwhelmingly positive. I hope our country will remain united and remember that anything is possible with a bit a perseverance. Ayoba South Africa and bring on the Olympics!!!!!!
